In May 2025, I will graduate from medical school and begin surgical residency at ECU Health. I am graduating with distinction as a "Research Distinction Track Scholar," where I presented at international conferences and published research advancing the fields of cardiothoracic surgery, surgical oncology, gastrointestinal surgery, and urology. During my time in medical school, I co-founded Greenville’s first-ever employability program for people experiencing homelessness and helped lead the reopening of a medical respite to provide safe discharge options for medically fragile patients experiencing homelessness. Both initiatives were honored by the NC Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.
What motto or phrase motivates you?
"Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God." - Leo Buscaglia
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Compassionate, Inquisitive, Driven
What advice would you give to someone entering your field?
Medicine is inherently challenging, but anything truly meaningful is. The key is to pursue this path because it brings you joy. Be honest with yourself about what fuels your passion. Strive for progress, not perfection. Show up for yourself - even when you are tired - because some of the most profound lessons emerge through adversity. Illuminate the path for others as you walk your own. Medicine is collaborative, so ask for help and guidance. Above all, remain grateful for each moment, each challenge, and each opportunity to do what you love in service to others.
