Brigid Devine

Medical Student

I’m driven by a desire to create meaningful, inclusive solutions that improve healthcare access and equity. Recently, my team's project to enhance gynecologic care for patients with disabilities won the Legacy Team Award in our school’s Bench to Bedside competition. I also founded Foresight LLC, a startup focused on catching eye health issues earlier to improve outcomes. I received the Lass Medical Student Research Fund Award for ophthalmology research, and I’m working with our Student Run Fee Clinic to integrate vision screenings to improve access to eye care in our local community, all made possible by the incredible teams around me.

What advice would you give to someone entering your field?

To anyone beginning a journey in the medical field, I encourage you to stay curious and maintain a problem-solving mindset. There are so many meaningful opportunities to improve the way we care for others, potentially facilitating the provider’s workflow, elevating the patient experience, and improving patient outcomes. If you notice something that could be better, don’t be afraid to ask, “How might we improve this?” Share your ideas, invite others into the conversation, and remember that even small changes can lead to lasting impact. Your perspective matters, and it could help shape a better future in healthcare.
